Job Description

As a Business Banking Product Management Officer, you will play a key role in shaping, guiding and executing First Bank’s approach to serving our clients. You will use your strategic and analytical skills to align the bank’s products, services and operations with clients’ financial needs, industry trends and growth opportunities. You will collaborate cross-functionally to develop data-driven insights, evaluate market opportunities, and design initiatives that improve client experience, drive growth, and increase profitability.

The Business Banking Product Management Officer is a hybrid role located at our Newport Beach, CA office. Relocation assistance is not being offered for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Develop and refine multi-year strategic plans that improves client acquisition, retention and profitability
  • Manage strategy execution, tracking outcomes and recommending adjustments based on performance and client feedback.
  • Oversee multiple projects and programs concurrently

Market & Competitive Analysis

  • Monitor industry and market trends, competitive landscape and emerging opportunities for the bank
  • Identify growth opportunities in markets, segments, and product offerings
  • Analyze client segments (e.g. businesses such as startups, manufacturers, service providers) to understand their financial behaviors and needs

Product & Service Development

  • Create or refine product and pricing strategies tailored to our target clients (e.g. loans, treasury management services) and manage throughout the product or service lifecycle
  • Lead product level modeling and analytics and create benchmarks to identify gaps in product and service offerings
  • Lead direct-to-consumer marketing efforts for select products, and strategic intent for products distributed through the client-facing channels and track outcomes

Client Experience & Journey Mapping

  • Partner with marketing and operations to optimize the end-to-end client journey
  • Recommend solutions to enhance onboarding, retention, and digital engagement for clients

Channel Strategies & Performance

  • Develop and implement the service model for our client-facing lines of business and their interaction model with internal partners (e.g. retail, business banking, wealth management)
  • Establish growth goals and compensation plans
  • Track KPIs like loan growth, client acquisition, cross-sell ratios and client satisfaction and report on results
  • Develop tools and training for frontline staff to better serve clients

Partnerships & Innovation

  • Build strong partnerships with internal line of business partners (e.g. business banking, retail, credit, operations)
  • Explore partnerships with third parties to enhance or create value-added services
  • Pilot new solutions such as automated lending or data-driven credit risk models

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze data using statistical methods to identify patterns, trends and relationships
  • Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to uncover insights
  • Create hypotheses and test them using tools like Excel, SQL or Python
  • Leverage data to guide strategic decisions like product launches, customer targeting or operational improvements

Risk & Compliance Awareness

  • Ensure strategies align with regulatory requirements and risk frameworks
  • Collaborate with risk and compliance teams when rolling out new initiatives
  • Drive improvements in credit performance by connecting drivers of future credit trends to historical behavior, creating risk models, and testing hypotheses using rigorous monitoring and analysis

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university required; MBA or Master’s in Finance or Economics, preferred
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience working in banking, consulting, strategy or finance
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in analysis
  • P&L management experience, a plus
  • Multi-lingual, a plus
