Director of Operations

Reports To: President

Job Summary

  • The Director of Operations is a key leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence across the organization. This position oversees all aspects of Engineering, Quality, Production, Supply Chain, and Facilities/Maintenance. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record of operational leadership in a high-performance manufacturing environment, with deep expertise in aerospace materials and a strong focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead and manage day-to-day operations across Production, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Facilities/Maintenance.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with company goals and growth plans.
  • Champions a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Integrates business systems to empower process owners & enable product differentiation.
  • Drives action towards key performance metrics and regularly shares updates with internal teams and parent company leadership.
  • Collaborates with R&D and Sales to ensure manufacturability and scalability of new formulations and products.
  • Coaches and supports current and future leaders to encourage continuous learning, professional growth, and a positive, values-driven workplace culture.
  • Leads timely performance reviews that provide clear, constructive feedback and support employee development.
  • Works closely with HR and the Quality Manager to ensure consistent and effective application of company policies.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related field is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 5 in a leadership role.
  • Experience with composite materials for Aerospace applications is highly preferred.
  • Well-versed in quality systems (AS9100, NADCAP) and regulatory standards.
  • Highly-proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat Writer. Experience with Epicor or related ERP system.
