Job Description

Our client, a public differentiated oil and natural gas company based in Houston, is looking to expand its legal team. This position will support onshore oil and gas operations, with a focus on Texas and the Rocky Mountains. This attorney will work closely with operational departments including marketing, land, HSE, and production operations.

• Responsibilities: Responsible for providing legal advice in a timely manner to operational departments regarding compliance with contractual, statutory, regulatory and other legal requirements.
• Assist management in identifying legal and business issues and risks and provide creative alternatives to accomplish the business objectives.
• Prepare, review and assist in the negotiation of various oil and gas contracts including leases, farmout agreements, joint operating agreements, landowner/royalty owner agreements, surface access agreements and gas, oil, and other marketing agreements.
• As needed, assist with supervision of litigation and regulatory matters and proceedings.

• Qualifications: J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience in upstream oil and gas as a practicing attorney; prior in-house legal experience preferred.
• Admission to a state bar with the ability to practice in-house in Texas.
• Regulatory experience in Utah and/or Texas is a plus.
