Underwriting Support Specialist, Group Benefits (Remote)

Contract to possible perm

Pay $23 an hour

Are you a detail-oriented individual with strong data entry skills and a knack for analysis, looking for a remote opportunity in the health insurance sector? Join our Group Benefits Underwriting team as a Financial Services Analyst! We're seeking a proactive and collaborative individual to support the underwriting of Small Group health plans.

This is a temporary position with the possibility of being hired on full-time.

Please Note: We are unable to consider candidates residing in Illinois, New York, California, Massachusetts, or Nevada for this remote role.

What You'll Do:

As a Financial Services Analyst, you'll play a crucial role in evaluating and processing new employer groups and enrollees for our Self-Funded product. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Accurate data entry: Input new group enrollment data into our online systems and worksheets.
  • Thorough evaluation: Review group enrollment materials for completeness and analyze new business quotes/proposals for accuracy.
  • Eligibility verification: Evaluate eligibility and enrollment requirements for new enrollees and employer changes.
  • Broker support: Analyze broker appointments.
  • Collaborative partnership: Work closely with sales offices and underwriters to meet company objectives and maintain strong relationships with internal partners to enhance agent satisfaction.
  • Continuous learning: Accept new functions as assigned to support department goals.

We're seeking a candidate who is highly organized, proficient with technology, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

  • Prior experience as an Underwriting Technician is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the health insurance market is a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and adjust your schedule to meet service standards.
  • Proven ability to remain focused in a fast-paced environment .
  • Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with sales and department staff.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel and Access) and general computer systems.
  • Excellent professional phone etiquette, interpersonal skills, and strong written and verbal communication.

Work Schedule:

This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere (excluding the states listed above). We offer flexible first-shift hours , meaning you can start your workday anytime between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM after your initial training period. For the first two weeks of training, your hours will be 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
